Kingston Police have made a third arrest in connection with multiple robberies earlier in the month.
On March 15, 2018 two females were robbed in separate incidents by two suspects in the early morning hours. In at least one of the robberies, the suspects were allegedly armed with a handgun and a knife.
At approximately 3:30 a.m. the first victim was walking in the area of Weller Avenue and Division Street. The victim was robbed of her purse by two male suspects with weapons and the suspects fled in a waiting vehicle.
At approximately 5:45 a.m. the second victim was walking on Wellington Street. The victim was robbed of her backpack by two male suspects and the suspects fled in a waiting vehicle.
The suspects then used stolen credit cards to make multiple transactions.
On March 22, 2018 a 19-year-old Gananoque man and a 17-year-old Kingston youth were both arrested. On March 26, 2018 a 17-year-old Elgin youth was arrested.
Detectives have now confirmed both robberies were committed by the same three accused persons and as a result all three will face charges for both robberies.
The accused parties are charged with two counts of having their faces masked to commit an offence, robbery, robbery with a weapon, pointing a firearm, using a firearm to commit an offence, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, three counts of possession of a credit card obtained by an offence, and three counts of fraud. The 19-year-old was additionally charged with breaching probation.
