Closures and cancellations in Kingston area due to freezing rain

Many businesses closed early and activities were cancelled on Monday, January 22nd due to a freezing rain storm that swept across the Kingston area in the afternoon.  Among those:

  • St Lawrence College and Queen’s University cancelled all evening classes and activities
  • CFB Kingston base gym closing at 4 p.m.
  • Kingston Airport cancelled all flights in and out of the city
  • Kingston Military Family Resource Centre (KMFRC) closed at 3 p.m.
  • Cataraqui Town Centre closed at 4 p.m.
  • All Kingston Library branches closed at 5 p.m.
  • Amherstview Library closed early
  • TK Danceworx has cancelled all evening classes
  • Loyalist Gym cancelled all evening classes
  • Kingston Danceforce cancelled all evening classes
  • Rhythm Dance Centre in Amherstview is closed early
  • Cantabile choir practice is cancelled
  • Full Circle Health Network cancelled all evening classes
  • Trillium Gymnastics cancelled all evening classes
  • Ardens Music cancelled all evening classes
  • West end Boys and Girls Club closed at 4 p.m.
  • Several Kingston Sports & Social Club games evening cancelled – contact your coach for confirmation
  • Kingston Aeros Trampoline Club recreational and competitive evening classes cancelled
  • Pickleball at Bath Public Public School and Fitness Circuit at Ernestown Secondary school cancelled
  • Pete Petersen Basketball League Biddy and Graduate Division games cancelled
  • Evening classes at Teamork Canine Centre cancelled
  • Napanee Skating Club sessions cancelled
  • Skate Kingston has cancelled all evening skating
  • SHAKU Family Martial Arts evening classes cancelled
  • FCCCC After School Programs cancelled
  • Lisa’s School Of Dance evening classes cancelled
  • KFL&A Public Health Sexual Health Clinic closed early
  • Canadian Black Belt Centres closed early
  • Putt N’ Blast closed early
  • KTI Sportsplex closed early
  • GKSSA games, KUSC and Clippers training postponed
  • Nightlight Kingston drop-in cancelled
  • Arabesque Academy of Dance is closed early
  • Evening with Dr Sian Phillips at Cataraqui Woods Elementary School cancelled

Kingston Police and OPP indicate that all roads are extremely slippery and non-essential car travel is ill-advised. Kingston Transit is operating a normal weekday schedule and is not reporting any significant delays. Continue to check back as updates are ongoing.
