The Sharbot Lake Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police and Central Frontenac Fire & Rescue are assisting the Ontario Fire Marshall in investigating a death which occurred at a residence on Townline Road in Central Frontenac Township on Wednesday, April 11th.
At approximately 6:00 p.m. emergency responders were called to the house fire on Townline Road, says OPP Constable Roop Sandhu.
On arrival, firefighters found the house fully engulfed in fire. Firefighters quickly entered the burning house to perform a search. During the search, they found and removed a victim and began resuscitation, but the victim succumbed to his injuries. Two dogs also died as a result of the fire.
The fire was quickly brought under control and a further search revealed there were no other occupants in the house at the time of the fire.
The Central Frontenac Fire Department and the Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office will be continuing to investigate the cause of the fire today.
The deceased has been identified as 62 year old Jimmy Renaud of Central Frontenac Township. A post mortem was conducted on April 12, and the death is not considered suspicious.
