Fire destroys home in Verona

On the evening of Tuesday, March 13th at around 8 p.m. South Frontenac firefighters, OPP and Frontenac Paramedics responded to an active structure fire on Hambly Lake in Verona. Neighbours believed an individual to be trapped in the home and attempted to enter, but were unsuccessful due to the heat and large amounts of smoke. When the OPP and South Frontenac Fire Department arrived on scene the structure was fully engulfed in flames and entry could not safely be made into the home. The fire was extinguished and remains under investigation. It remains unconfirmed whether there was a person inside the home.

The Ontario Fire Marshall’s Office, South Frontenac Fire and the OPP remain at the scene. The fire does not appear to be suspicious.
