Kingston Police perform high-risk takedown on Mack St

Kingston Police performed a high-risk takedown on Wednesday morning after they received a report of a suspect with a firearm, which they later discovered to be a BB gun, in the area of Mack St near Alfred St.

Multiple Kingston Police officers converged on the suspect’s vehicle at around 9:30 a.m. and instructed the male occupant to place his hands outside of the vehicle. Officers slowly approached the vehicle as the male complied with their instructions. As they neared the male, they observed the replica Beretta BB gun in plain sight inside the vehicle.

Officers took the 20-year-old male into custody and, on conducting a search, found a backpack with a machete inside as well as a quantity of suspected crystal methamphetamine, said Kingston Police Media Relations Officer Cam Mack. The male has been charged with offences related to the possession of suspected crystal meth. No charges have been laid for the possession of the machete or BB gun, said Mack.
