Man arrested for impaired driving after getting vehicle stuck under a fence

A 25-year-old local man was arrested for impaired driving and he drove his vehicle off the road and under a fence.

On February 9, 2018 at approximately 1:45 a.m. officers responded to a single motor vehicle collision in the area of Bath Road and Queen Mary Road. On arrival officers found a vehicle in the ditch on the north side of Bath Road. The vehicle was stuck under a chain link fence beneath a tree. The driver was found inside and uninjured. Upon speaking with the driver, officers detected strong odours of marijuana and alcohol and made several observations he was impaired by alcohol.

The accused was arrested and transported to police headquarters where he provided two breath samples. The accused was found to have just over 2 times the legal limit of alcohol in his system.

The accused was charged with impaired driving and operating a vehicle with over 80 mg of alcohol.

The accused was later released with a future court date. His driver’s licence is automatically suspended for 90 days and would face a one year suspension if convicted. The vehicle was seized and impounded for seven days, with the accused being responsible for all fees and fines.
