Man charged after attacking 13-year-old during road rage incident

A 46-year-old local man has been charged after he attacked a 13-year-old passenger during a road rage incident.

On January 20, 2018 at approximately 10:45 a.m. the complainant drove into a parking lot at Bayridge Drive and Taylor Kidd Boulevard. The accused was the passenger in a vehicle driving through the parking lot at a high rate of speed. A near collision resulted in the accused “flipping off” the complainant and the complainant responding by honking his horn.

When the complainant parked his vehicle, the accused approached and began yelling at the victim, making racial remarks and threats he could have him killed. When the complainant’s 13-year-old son told the accused not to speak to his father like that, the accused grabbed the youth by the throat. The complainant began yelling and punching at the accused in an attempt to get him to let go of his son. The yelling attracted citizens who intervened and broke up the altercation.

The accused was later located at his residence and arrested. He was transported to Kingston Police headquarters where he was later released with a future court date.

The man has been charged with assault and uttering threats.
