OPP officers injured in altercation following convenience store theft

On Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at 1:45 p.m. an officer with the Napanee detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police responded to a report of a theft from the Macs Convenience Store in Bath, Loyalist Township.

OPP say that during the investigation the male became physically assaultive towards the police officer and additional officers attended to assist in the arrest. The police officers involved suffered minor physical injuries.

The suspect, 59 year old Hugh Peever, of Bath, has been charged with theft under $5,000, two counts of assaulting a police officer, and two counts of resisting a police officer.

He was released on a Promise to Appear and is scheduled to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Napanee on August 21, 2018.
