Kingston Police say 24-year-old Jesse Decardo Turner and 21-year-old Janelle Danika Street have both been arrested and charged in relation to a kidnapping and robbery which allegedly took place in Kingston’s west end last week. Turner was already wanted on a Canada Wide Warrant from the Edmonton Police for Aggravated Assault and Kingston Police had been actively searching for him.
On March 28, 2018 at approximately 11:30 p.m. Turner and Street allegedly pulled a handgun on their female victim in the Amberdale Crescent area. Kingston Police say the pair stole the victim’s jewelry and computer tablet and assaulted the victim, who suffered minor injuries. The pair then allegedly took the victim and her car to a residence in the north end of Kingston and fired the handgun four times in a rear parking lot of an address on Wilson Street. Turner and Street left the victim at the residence and fled in her vehicle.
At approximately 3:30 a.m. a Kingston Police detective and a patrol officer located the stolen vehicle in the Amberdale Crescent area. The officers attempted to arrest Turner and Street, who were believed to be armed at the time. Turner fled on foot and officers engaged in a foot pursuit, chasing him into the Sexton Place area and arresting him in a rear yard on Craig Lane.
During a search officers found a knife on Turner. Officers then located a stolen loaded revolver under the driver’s seat of the vehicle which Turner and Street had taken. Street fled the area but was later located and arrested on March 30.
Turner and Street are charged with robbery, kidnapping, forcible confinement, assault with a weapon, possession of a prohibited firearm, discharging a firearm, possession of stolen property, and possession of a stolen firearm. Both were held by police pending a bail hearing.
