Officers with the Loyalist detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police, Loyalist Fire and Ambulance crews responded to a serious collision on Taylor-Kidd Blvd this morning at 05:30 a.m. Taylor-Kidd remained closed between County Road 6 and Coronation Blvd for several hours while the Technical Traffic Collision Investigation Unit completed their investigation into the collision. It reopened at around 2p.m.
As a result of their investigation, OPP have determined that a sedan traveling westbound on Taylor-Kidd crossed the centre line and collided with a van traveling eastbound causing a head on collision.
Though OPP initially indicated in a release that three patients were taken to hospital with serious injuries from the two vehicle collision, OPP have now confirmed that there were only two occupants, the drivers of the vehicles, involved in the collision. Both have passed away as a result of the crash. Their identities have not yet been released.
More to come.
