Significant damage to house after car crash

A home at 515 Alfred St sustained serious damage to its foundation and basement area after a driver lost control of her vehicle and crashed into the residence on Thursday morning.

Constable Greg Smith of Kingston Police’s Traffic Unit says that police, Kingston Fire & Rescue and Frontenac Paramedics were dispatched to the collision scene shortly before noon after the eastbound vehicle lost control on Concession St near Alfred St, crossed a median onto Alfred St, and the front of the vehicle struck a corner of the building. Both the vehicle and the house sustained significant damage.

Frontenac Paramedics treated the driver on scene and transported her to Kingston General Hospital for further treatment of her non-life-threatening injuries.

There were occupants in the home at the time, says Smith, but nobody was injured.

Alfred St between Concession and Adelaide St will remain closed for several hours until the home has been fully stabilized by Kingston Fire & Rescue, the damage assessed by City Of Kingston engineers, and a Kingston Police investigation into the cause of the collision is completed. Smith said that at this time there were no indications that alcohol or speed were a factor, but the investigation is ongoing.

More to come.
