Strong winds and heavy rainfall expected in Kingston area

Environment Canada has issued a wind warning for Kingston, Odessa, Frontenac Islands, Napanee, Consecon, Picton and Sandbanks Park, with very strong westerly winds expected to develop across the region Wednesday morning. Winds gusts as high as 100 km/h are possible and power outages may occur.

Environment Canada says winds will begin to diminish Wednesday night.

Additionally, significant rainfall is expected tonight into early Wednesday morning due to a Colorado low pressure system which is expected to intensify into an early spring storm as it races across Southern and Central Ontario tonight.

This weather system will bring a rainfall of 20 to 30 millimetres across Eastern Ontario, most of which will fall tonight.

This amount of rain combined with the still frozen ground could create localized flooding in poorly drained and low lying areas.
