401 westbound was closed at about 1 a.m. on the morning of Friday, April 13th at Gardiners Rd/CR 38 in Kingston as OPP conduct an investigation into a motor-vehicle collision causing the death of a male pedestrian on the roadway.
The deceased male has been identified as 59 year old Charles Thistlethwaite, of Kingston.
It is believed that at approximately 12:30 a.m., he was observed walking west bound on the paved shoulder of the westbound lane of Highway 401 about one kilometer west of Gardiners Road.
OPP say the vehicle involved failed to remain at the scene.
The OPP Technical Collision Investigators (TCI) team was called in to assist with the investigation.
