A 32-year-old local man was caught driving a stolen truck after officers stopped the vehicle for a burnt out headlight.
On January 22, 2018 at approximately 2:45 a.m. Kingston Police patrol officers travelling northbound on Division Street observed a truck coming towards them, with a headlight out. As the officers turned around, the driver made a sudden turn onto Stephen Street. The officers activated emergency lights and stopped the truck.
The driver was arrested when a licence plate check revealed that the vehicle was stolen. While searching the accused, officers found he had the identification and bank cards for the registered owner of the truck along with an identification card for another person.
The suspect was transported to Kingston Police headquarters where he was held to attend a bail hearing the following day.
He has been charged with three counts of possession of stolen property.
