A 17-year-old local youth has been charged with multiple weapons related offences.
On May 7, 2018 a male was with several friends outside the Cataraqui Town Centre at 945 Gardiners Road. He observed the suspect walking in the area and confronted him over an issue involving a member of his family and the suspect. When the suspect lifted his shirt to expose what appeared to be a black handgun, the victim tackled him to the ground. During the altercation the suspect managed to pull out his gun and shoot the victim twice. Friends of the victim intervened, took the gun away and ensured the suspect could not leave. Kingston Police and Frontenac Paramedics responded.
The accused was arrested and transported to Kingston Police headquarters where he was held to attend a bail hearing the following day. The accused was charged with assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and carrying a concealed weapon.
